Dhunar Asana is one of the asanas in the Indian yoga system. It is called Dhunar asana because the pose looks like an archer’s bow. It is fairly difficult Asana. I never attempt in my Pathanjali yoga class. Though I do practice Salaba Asana.

Coming to Michael Connelly’s The Overlook which I now just finished reading, the hero a detective named Harry Bosch solved a murder case through a poster of Dhunar asana. The Overlook is a fast paced novel. A physicist is murdered and a quantity of radio active material is missing. The case is then turned in to national importance that prompted the intervention of FBI. The presence of FBI naturally brought friction between their agents and LAPD.How Harry Bosch a failed detective in LAPD combined with a FBI agent and solved the murder forms the rest of story.

Michael Connelly writes the novel in a fluid style. He has a poetic quality-generally absent in crime novels- writing this crime novel.

When he wrote,

“What a world it was, Bosch thought, when some one could draw the courage to pull the trigger on another man by calling out to his god.”

We could but disagree with him. Again when the hero lamented about his difficulty in dealing with the latest phone that was found in the crime scene I am able to appreciate,

“Bosch was not adapt in a digital world and readily acknowledged this. He has mastered his own cell phone but it was a basic model that made and received calls, store numbers in directory, and nothing else as for as he knew. This meant that he was quite lost as he tried to manipulate the higher-evolution device.” 

Every where in the world the plight of the older generation is same. I relied on my son to upload my favorite old Hindi songs to my ipod. New technologies scare us.

I have decided to try one more novel by Michael Connelly.
